# Set up the mobile app

> Install the Vato companion app, sign in with your Vato account and follow your desktop conversations from your phone.

The Vato mobile app is a companion to Vato Desktop. It shows the conversations running on your computer, lets you answer the agent's questions and send new prompts, and notifies you when something needs you.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The mobile app does not run agents by itself. Your computer does the work: Vato Desktop must be open and signed in with the **same account** for the phone to start or continue a conversation.

## Install and sign in

1. Install the **Vato** app on your iPhone or Android phone.
2. Open it and tap **Continue with my Vato account**.
3. A secure browser opens on vatoide.com. Sign in with the same account you use on your computer.
4. The browser closes and the app syncs on its own.

If the sign-in takes more than five minutes, the app shows **Authentication timeout (5 min)**. Tap the button again to restart.

## Connect your computer

If the app has never seen your computer, it shows **Connect Vato IDE on your Mac**:

1. Download Vato IDE on your computer. See [Install Vato and sign in](../getting-started/install.md).
2. Sign in with the same account.
3. Come back to the app: your conversations appear.

## Know if your computer is online

The top of the app tells you which computers are reachable:

| Message | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Connected to** *name* | Your computer is online. You can send prompts. |
| *name* **offline** | Vato is closed, asleep or signed out on that computer. |
| **No device connected** | No computer with your account is online. |

To fix an offline computer, open Vato IDE on it and make sure you are signed in.

## What you can do from your phone

The app has four tabs: **Chats**, **Bots**, **Design** and **Settings**.

- **Start a conversation**: choose a computer, then a project, then the AI account to use.
- **Write or dictate** a prompt. Tap **Start voice recording** to dictate.
- **Use slash commands**, switch between **Plan** and execution mode, and **Add files**.
- **Stop a turn** that is going the wrong way.
- **Review a plan**: when an agent shows **PLAN READY**, choose **Discuss** or **Start implementation**.
- **Approve or deny** requests from your Team inbox.
- **Manage Bots** and follow their missions. See [Bots on mobile](bots-on-mobile.md).

> [!NOTE]
> For safety, you can't turn on computer control for a Bot from your phone. Do it from your computer.

## Turn on notifications

1. Go to **Settings → Push notifications**.
2. Tap **Add this phone**.
3. Choose what you want to be told about: **Questions and approvals**, **Final responses** and **Monitoring completed**.

## Delete your account

You can delete your Vato account directly in the app from **Settings → Delete my account**. This can't be undone.
