# Apple Watch

> Follow your agents and Bots from your wrist, read their answers, reply by voice, approve requests, start new work and call a Bot.

The Vato app for Apple Watch puts your activity on your wrist. You can read conversations, dictate replies, answer an agent's question, start a new agent or Bot, and call a Bot through your iPhone.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The watch works through your iPhone. Your conversations are end-to-end encrypted between the Vato app on your iPhone and your computer, and the keys never leave the iPhone. Keep your iPhone nearby (Bluetooth or the same Wi-Fi) and your computer online. The iPhone does not need to be unlocked or open: the watch wakes Vato in the background.

## Install

1. Install the Vato iPhone app and sign in. See [Set up the mobile app](companion-app.md).
2. On your iPhone, open the **Watch** app, find **Vato** under **Available Apps** and tap **Install**. With automatic app install turned on, it is already there.
3. Open Vato on the watch. It shows the latest activity your iPhone has seen.

The watch app needs watchOS 10 or later.

## The main screen

| Section | What it lists |
| --- | --- |
| **Running** | Agents and Bots at work, with a live timer, and those that need you first. |
| **Bots** | Your Bots with their status. Tap one to open its page. |
| **Finished** | The latest finished conversations, with the start of their answer. |
| **New agent** / **New bot** | Start something new by dictation. |

A banner tells you when the iPhone is out of reach (**iPhone out of reach**) or when no computer is online (**Computer offline**). Pull down to refresh.

## Read and reply

1. Tap a conversation. The last exchanges appear, newest at the bottom. While the agent works, the screen refreshes on its own.
2. Tap **Reply**, then dictate, scribble or type your message, and tap **Send**. **Quick replies** (**Continue**, **Yes**, **No**, **Thanks!**) send in one tap.

If the agent is still working, your message waits in its queue and is sent when the current turn ends, as on the phone.

## Answer requests

When an agent needs you, the conversation shows the request:

- A permission shows **Allow** (checkmark) and **Decline** (cross).
- A question with choices shows one button per choice. **Answer** lets you dictate a free answer.

## Start new work

- **New agent**: dictate what the agent should do. Vato creates the conversation on the computer you used most recently, in your last project, with your last model, then opens it on the watch.
- **New bot**: dictate the Bot's mission. Vato creates a Bot with a generated name on your computer. You can rename it later on the phone or the computer.

## Message or call a Bot

On a Bot's page:

- **Message** sends a dictated message to the Bot's chat.
- **Open conversation** shows its chat.
- **Call on iPhone** starts a voice call with this Bot on your iPhone. The audio uses your iPhone, or your AirPods. See [Call a Bot](bots-on-mobile.md#call-a-bot).

## Complications

Add Vato to a watch face to see your activity at a glance:

| Complication | What it shows | Tap |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Activity** | The number of running conversations and the first one's title. | Opens Vato. |
| **Bot** | A Bot of your choice and its status. | Opens that Bot. |
| **New agent** | A plus button. | Opens **New agent**. |

Complications update each time the watch receives new activity from your iPhone.

## Troubleshooting

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **iPhone out of reach** | Bring your iPhone closer or turn on Bluetooth. The watch still shows the last activity it received. |
| **Your iPhone didn't answer in time** | Open Vato on the iPhone once, then try again. |
| **Computer offline** | Open Vato on your computer. |
| **Open Vato to sign in** | Sign in on the iPhone. The watch follows. |
| **Calls need a computer with Vato Voice** | Open an up-to-date Vato on a computer signed in to your personal space. |
