# Connect your browser

> Install the Vato Browser extension so agents can use tabs in your own Chrome, Edge or Brave, with your consent.

Vato Desktop has its own integrated browser, which agents use for local pages such as `localhost`. The **Vato Browser** extension goes further: it lets an agent work in **your own browser**, for example on a site where you are already signed in.

## Supported browsers

The extension works in Chromium browsers, version 120 or later: **Google Chrome**, **Microsoft Edge**, **Brave** and similar. Firefox and Safari are not supported.

## Install the extension

The extension is not in a web store yet. You install it from Vato:

1. In Vato Desktop, open **Settings → Plugins → Vato Browser**.
2. Click **Download the extension** and unzip the downloaded file.
3. In your browser, open the extensions page (`chrome://extensions`, `edge://extensions` or `brave://extensions`).
4. Turn on **Developer mode**.
5. Click **Load unpacked** and select the unzipped folder.
6. Pin the Vato Browser icon to your toolbar so you can reach it quickly.

## Connect it to your computer

1. Click the Vato Browser icon. Give this browser a name, for example "Work Chrome".
2. Click **Se connecter à Vato** (*Sign in to Vato*). A page opens on vatoide.com.
3. Sign in to Vato if you are asked to.
4. Under **Choose a PC**, select the computer whose agents may use this browser.
5. Read the consent text, then click **Connect this browser**.
6. When you see **Browser connected**, you can close the page.

The connection link is valid for 10 minutes. If it expires, start again from the extension.

> If the page says **No PC available**, open Vato IDE on your computer, sign in with the same account and click **Refresh**.

## What agents can do

Vato picks the browser for each task automatically:

- **Local pages** (`localhost`, your local network, files) always open in the integrated browser.
- **Websites** open in your connected browser when it is online. If you connected several browsers, the agent asks you which one to use.

In your browser, an agent can open and close tabs, navigate, read the page, click, type and take screenshots. It can only see the tabs **it opened** and the tabs you hand to it with **Confier cet onglet à Vato** (*Give this tab to Vato*) in the extension. Your other tabs stay private.

Some tools stay in the integrated browser: file uploads, cookies and storage, device emulation, network changes and PDF export.

## Stay in control

| Extension | **Suspendre le pilotage** (*Pause control*) stops agents immediately. **Reprendre le pilotage** (*Resume control*) allows them again. |
| Extension | **Déconnecter le compte** (*Disconnect account*) removes the connection from this browser. |
| Vato Desktop | **Settings → Plugins → Vato Browser** lists your browsers. Change the **Assigned PC** or click **Revoke** to cut access. |

## Privacy

- Your passwords and passkeys stay managed by your browser. Agents don't receive them.
- The content of the tabs an agent uses may be sent to Vato and to the AI provider handling the request, like any other context in a conversation.
- Vato's relay doesn't store page content. The extension injects no scripts into the sites you visit; it only acts on the tabs an agent opened or you shared.
- A browser connection lasts 30 days, then you connect it again. You can connect up to 10 browsers per account.
