# Take the Bot tour

> A two-minute self-playing tour with a sample bot that shows chat, questions, threads, routines, memory and approvals.

New to Bots? The Bot tour lets you try every feature with a sample bot called **Nova**, the marketing assistant of *Maple & Bean*, a fictional coffee shop.

> The tour uses sample data only. Nothing is sent to an AI provider, saved or run for real.

## A required tour

Every account must finish the tour once on each computer before using Bots, even if it already has bots. Until then, the Bot view shows only the tour and your bot list stays hidden.

- You can't skip it or close it with `Esc`. You can go back to earlier steps, but not jump ahead.
- **Next** unlocks once the step's demo (or your own action) is done and the step has been on screen for at least 3 seconds. The button shows the countdown.
- Reaching the last screen unlocks your Bots. Click **Go to my Bots**, or create a bot from an example.

## Replay the tour

Once finished, replay it any time. A replay can be skipped:

- Click the **compass** button (**Replay the interactive Bot tour**) at the top of the Bot list.
- Go to **Settings → Profile** and click **Open the Bot tour**. The row also shows whether you finished it.

## What you see

Each step plays by itself, like a short live demo: you watch Nova do it, then click **Next**. A glowing ring shows each button the demo presses. To try it yourself instead, click or type in the demo area; the demo stops and it's your turn.

| Step | What the demo shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Talk to your Bot** | The message types itself, is sent, and Nova replies. |
| **Answer its questions** | Nova asks which tone to use and an answer is picked in a real question card. |
| **Keep topics in threads** | Typing `/` in the chat opens the **Commands** menu; `/new` then starts a new thread. |
| **Put work on a schedule** | **Run now** starts a routine; you see its run, then its report in the chat. |
| **See what it remembers** | Nova's memory, with the tone picked earlier, and a note being added. |
| **You stay in control** | A request to connect an account is approved, and every section of the **Actions** menu is listed. |

In any Bot chat, type `/` to see the available commands.

## Create your own bot

On the last screen, choose an example (**Marketing helper**, **Inbox assistant**, **Research buddy** or **Code reviewer**) or **Start from scratch**. The bot creation screen opens with the example mission already written. Edit it if you like, then press Enter.

When you create a bot without the tour, the same examples appear under **Need an idea? Start from an example:** while the message box is empty.
