# Delete your account

> Permanently delete your Vato account from the website or the mobile app, and learn what is removed and what stays on your devices.

You can delete your Vato account yourself, on the website or in the Vato mobile app. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.

> [!NOTE]
> Vato Desktop has no delete button. Use the website or the mobile app. If neither works for you, email [support@vatoide.com](mailto:support@vatoide.com).

## On the website

1. Sign in on [vatoide.com](https://vatoide.com/signin.html) and open your profile.
2. Under **Delete account**, click **Delete my account**.
3. Type your email in **Type your email to confirm**.
4. Click **Delete permanently**.

If the page says **For your security, sign in again, then retry within 10 minutes.**, click **Sign in again**, sign in with the same account and repeat the steps.

## In the mobile app

### Before you start

- Make sure you are signed in to the mobile app with the account you want to delete. Its email is shown at the top of the **Settings** tab.
- For your security, deletion only works within **10 minutes** of signing in. If you signed in earlier, you will be asked to sign in again first.

### Delete your account

1. Open the Vato mobile app and go to the **Settings** tab.
2. Scroll down to **Danger zone** and tap **Delete my account**.
3. Under **Confirm deletion**, type your email address exactly as shown.
4. Tap **Delete everything**.
5. The app asks **Permanently delete this account?**. Tap **Delete everything** again.

When it is done, the app shows **Account deleted** and returns to the sign-in screen.

To stop at any point before step 5, tap **Cancel**.

#### If you see "Sign in again"

If your session is older than 10 minutes, the app signs you out and shows **Sign in again**.

1. Sign in with the same account.
2. Within 10 minutes, go back to **Settings → Delete my account** and repeat the steps.

#### If you see "Deletion failed"

Your account still exists. Check your connection and try again. If it keeps failing, contact [support@vatoide.com](mailto:support@vatoide.com).

## What is deleted

On the Vato server:

- Your Vato account and profile.
- All your sessions. Every computer, phone, browser and Vato Connect host signed in with this account is signed out.
- Your sign-in methods: password, Google and Apple.
- The integrations and connected apps linked to your account.
- The other data tied to your account on the server.

## What is not deleted

- **Conversations and settings stored on your computers.** Your personal conversations live on your computers, not on the Vato server, so they stay there.
- **Your AI provider accounts.** Your Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or other accounts are separate from Vato and stay open.

> You can create a new account later with the same email, but your deleted data can't be restored.
